| Venous Diseases and Methods Of Treatment -Ambulatory Phlebectomy
Some patients with minor varicose veins, particularly those with cosmetic concerns, are best managed by the simple office procedure of ambulatory phlebectomy. This means the surgical removal of the unsightly vein after a local anesthetic injection in the office. It represents a superior alternative for some patients whose veins may be poorly suited to sclerotherapy based on their size and location.
As with any surgical procedure, unlikely complications can occur including infections, blood clots, bruising, numb areas in the nearby skin, as well as other rare events.
For the vast majority of properly
selected patients, the cosmetic results are excellent.
